Weed delivery in Ottawa: how legal orders work

A source-led guide to Ontario’s online cannabis orders and store-run delivery: check the seller, confirm your address and know what the handoff requires.

Two legal routes, two different services

Adults 19 and older in Ontario can order from the Ontario Cannabis Store. Some authorized private cannabis stores also deliver their own orders, but authorization alone does not mean a store delivers or serves every Ottawa address.

OCS delivery options, service areas, cutoff times and receiving requirements can change. Check the current official checkout and shipping instructions using the exact postal code.

Ontario’s private-store delivery regulation requires delivery by the store authorization holder or an employee, in original unopened packaging, to a residence or private place and to an individual at the order address. Delivery is generally limited to 9 a.m.–11 p.m. while the store is open to the public, subject to legal exceptions.

Check the seller before checkout

Start with OCS.ca for an OCS order or the retailer’s own official site for a store order. Confirm the current legal business, retail location, order channel and who is responsible for delivery.

Read the payment, identification, delivery, failed-handoff and support terms before sharing personal information. Be cautious of sellers who move a transaction to private messages or request payment without a clear merchant identity.

Confirm the Ottawa address and delivery window

Service boundaries can differ between central Ottawa, the suburbs and communities farther out. Enter the exact postal code into the official checkout or confirm coverage with the store; do not assume an Ottawa location serves every neighbourhood.

Use the address where you can receive the order. A same-day label is not a guarantee for all postal codes or times, and service windows, cutoffs and fees should be checked at checkout.

Prepare for the handoff

Ontario’s legal minimum age for recreational cannabis is 19. Keep valid government-issued identification ready and follow the specific receiving instructions for the OCS delivery method or private store.

Do not ask a minor to receive or hold an order. For a private-store delivery, confirm whether the purchaser must accept it or whether the seller permits another eligible adult at the delivery address.

If delivery is not available

If an official service does not cover the address, check the other official online option or consider visiting an authorized local store. Do not treat an unverified seller as a safe substitute.

Ottawa Weed Guide’s store and neighbourhood guides can help with local research, but current authorization, hours and service details must be confirmed with official sources.

Store the order securely after delivery

Keep cannabis in its original packaging and in a secure place away from children and pets. Delivery does not change rules for use, travel or driving; never drive while impaired or take cannabis across the Canadian border.

Frequently asked questions

Is cannabis delivery legal in Ottawa?

Adults 19 and older can order legal recreational cannabis through the Ontario Cannabis Store. An authorized private cannabis store may also deliver orders it sells, provided it follows Ontario’s delivery rules. Service availability depends on the seller and address.

Do all Ottawa cannabis stores offer delivery?

No. A store authorization does not mean the retailer offers delivery or serves every Ottawa postal code. Check the retailer’s own current ordering information and confirm coverage before paying.

Does an adult need to be home to receive cannabis delivery?

Plan for an eligible adult to receive the order and show identification as required by the seller and delivery method. Private-store delivery must go to an individual at the address provided in the order; check the OCS or store’s current receiving instructions.

Can a cannabis delivery be left at the door?

Do not assume unattended delivery is permitted. Ontario’s private-store delivery rules require delivery to an individual at the address in the order, and the OCS has its own identification and handoff instructions.

Is same-day weed delivery guaranteed in Ottawa?

No. Same-day service, where offered, depends on the delivery option available for the exact postal code, ordering cutoffs and current operations. Confirm the window and terms at checkout.
